The Captain Whidbey Inn After a total overhaul in spring 2019 “the Captain” as we endearingly call it was recently reopened: come to pay homage to this lodge built in 1907 from the island’s iconic Madrona logs, and stay for it’s top notch accommodations & culinary experiences. Salty Acres is proud to Partner with Chef Eric at the Captain Whidbey as the curators of their kitchen garden. You can also taste our edible flowers & sea salt as a regular staple of the Captain Whidbey menu.

Cook on Clay Made on Whidbey Island, Cook on Clay ceramic pottery is made with a high-fire “flameproof” clay body formulated to withstand thermal shock when heated. Other types of clay can be used in the oven, but pots made from flameproof clay can withstand high heat and extreme temperature changes. This is our vessel of choice when cooking our Sea Salt but also many other dishes at home.
